What is Strength Training?

Physical fitness encompasses a range of activities, among which strength training, also known as resistance training, holds a special place. But what exactly is strength training?

Strength training is a type of physical exercise that involves using resistance to induce muscular contraction, which builds strength, anaerobic endurance, and size of skeletal muscles.

This resistance can come from your own body weight, free weights like dumbbells and barbells, or machines designed for strength training.

It typically involves a series of exercises that target different muscle groups. Each exercise consists of a set number of repetitions (reps) and sets.

For example, you might perform 5 sets of 5 reps of a particular exercise, with a rest period in between each set, totalling 25 reps.

Strength training is fundamental for enhancing overall fitness and can be customized to suit various fitness levels and goals. Whether you’re looking to build muscle, enhance athletic performance, or improve functional strength for daily activities, strength training can be tailored to meet your needs.

Strength training, also known as resistance training, involves exercises that use resistance to induce muscular contraction, promoting strength, endurance, and muscle growth.

A versatile and fundamental aspect of fitness, strength training encompasses exercises designed to enhance muscle strength, size, and functional ability.
